Desktop app (preview)

The Magic Coder desktop app is a standalone graphical client for the same Magic Coder agent. It’s an Electron-based application targeting macOS and Linux, with the same BridgeApp authentication and the same agentic engine as the TUI.

The desktop app is in preview. The shape of the UI, the feature surface, and the install flow are evolving week by week. Expect rough edges. For day-to-day work today, the TUI is the recommended surface.

  • A GUI experience for users who’d rather not live in a terminal.
  • A home for features that work better with a real window manager — multi-pane layouts, native dialogs, drag-and-drop.
  • A platform we can grow toward “Magic Coder for non-terminal workflows” without compromising the terminal experience.
  • Sign in to BridgeApp with the same OIDC flow as the TUI.
  • Launch a Magic Coder session in a chosen workspace.
  • Chat with the agent and see tool calls, diffs, and shell output.
  • Switch model and theme.
  • The full set of slash commands and keyboard shortcuts available in the TUI.
  • Mature trust and permission UI (the underlying guarantees are the same; the surfaces for managing them are still being built).
  • Polished release artifacts and auto-update.
  • Windows builds.

Public installers for the desktop app aren’t published yet. If you’d like early access, ask in your BridgeApp workspace — we’ll point you at a build.

If you want to use Magic Coder right now, install the TUI. The desktop app will catch up; until it does, the TUI is the better daily driver.
