VS Code extension (preview)

The Magic Coder VS Code extension brings the agent into the editor: a side panel where you can chat with Magic Coder while keeping your code in front of you. Same BridgeApp account, same agent, same thread model — just reachable from VS Code.

The extension is in preview. Expect rough edges and gaps versus the TUI. For day-to-day work today, the TUI is still the recommended surface.

  • Working in VS Code without context-switching to a terminal pane.
  • Quick edits and questions while you’re already inside the editor.
  • A surface that knows about the file you have open, the selection, and the workspace VS Code is in.
  • Sign in to BridgeApp from VS Code’s sidebar.
  • Open a chat panel and talk to Magic Coder in the workspace VS Code is in.
  • See diffs the agent proposes and apply them through the editor.
  • Switch model from inside the panel.
  • Full parity with TUI features (slash commands, themes, advanced approval flows).
  • Polished publishing on the VS Code Marketplace.
  • A release cadence — the extension is updated as we go.

Public Marketplace releases of the extension aren’t published yet. If you’d like to try the preview, ask in your BridgeApp workspace — we’ll point you at a build.

Install the TUI for a complete experience. Use the VS Code extension preview when you’d rather not leave VS Code and don’t mind some preview-quality edges.
